Woman Critical After M11 Crash
A woman's in a ''life threatening'' condition in hospital after a major accident on the M11.
A 17 mile stretch of the M11 in Essex finally opened at 3am this morning (Tuesday), 17 hours after a serious crash.
The crash - which involved four lorries, four cars and the coach, from Cooks in Southend, occurred on the M11 just after 10am on Monday.
Two air-ambulances and around 30 firefighters were called to the scene.
An Essex Police spokesman said the collision happened between junction eight for Bishop's Stortford and junction nine at Great Chesterford, near Saffron Walden.
A spokesman for Essex Fire And Rescue Service said two people were trapped in the coach and one person was trapped in a car.
Crews used specialist cutting equipment to release the casualties.
The East of England Ambulance Service said five people were injured in the incident, four of whom were taken to hospital.
An elderly woman is in a life threatening condition.
She's being treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and was a passenger on the coach.
