Stanley J. Waxman

Stanley J. Waxman, a former radio and legit actor who later became an educator, died Sept. 27 of unreported causes in Los Angeles. He was 84.

A native of Cincinnati, Waxman graduated from the U of Cincinnati and later settled in New York City where he worked as an actor on the stage and radio.

Following World War II service as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Waxman collaborated with his wife, Rena, performing two-person shows throughout the U.S. for many years.

In 1965, he returned to UCLA to earn a master’s degree in speech and went on to head the Speech Department at Hebrew Union College for more 30 years. Waxman also held that position in the drama department at Semester at Sea (Chapman College).

Waxman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rena, a son and daughter and four grandchildren.
