Burnt Orange Nails: The Chicest Halloween-Inspired Nail Trend Worth Trying

Publish date: 2024-06-02

Summer is coming to a close (did it really happen?) which means we are in full autumnal mode. No, it's not cold enough for chunky knitwear yet but since pumpkin latte season is here, the evenings are getting darker and leaves are slowly turning a crispy shade of crimson, you may want to try this Halloween-inspired nail trend.

It's called burnt orange nails and, if you ask us, this is probably the chicest way to do your Halloween nails. We know, we know, Halloween-inspired nail art is all over social media at the moment but not all of us want anything too witchy, black or morbid - so this is the ideal compromise.

Daisy Kalnina, founder of The GelBottle, tells GLAMOUR, “For me the colour orange immediately conjures visions of pumpkins, falling leaves and Halloween. We saw that ‘rust’ was a trending colour that promoted luxury and classic design. This felt perfect as a signature colour for our Autumn/Winter Glamourati collection so I created Ignite to elevate this autumnal, quiet luxury appeal with a deeper, more burnt orange. Ignite gives a Halloween nail look an element of sophistication, while still staying true to the heart of the holiday and time of year.”

The good news is, Kalnina tells us that burnt orange “looks incredible on short, square nails as a block of colour in your autumn colour palette" and the colour lends itself well as a striking base to nail art if you have the knack to do it yourself.

Trend forecasters WGSN called out the fact that we'd be mad for orange rust shades this season - and well into next year too in its report earlier this year. “This colour communicates authenticity, quiet luxury and promotes the return of classic design. Led by fashion brands leaning into the return of classic design and long-term pieces, Intense Rust is a key transseasonal shade with gender-inclusive appeal."

What we love most about burnt orange nails is that it's not too overly complicated, you don't need technical skills to be able to pull this one off nor does it need to be immediately taken off come November 1 (we reckon those ghoul-painted nails might not be so lucky). So, why not give this easy, sophisticated autumn-inspired nail trend a try?

If anything, burnt orange nails will bring a little dose of warmth to your nails, no matter the weather.
